Description

What is DHEA?

A hormone and hormone precursor.

Dehydroepiandrosterone, better known by its initials DHEA, is a steroid hormone involved in various bodily functions. It is present in several areas of the body, including the brain, heart, skin, adipose tissue, adrenal glands, and sex glands. In the human body, it circulates mainly in its water-soluble form: DHEA sulfate (DHEA-S). This molecule acts as an adrenal hormone, but also as a hormone precursor. For example, it promotes the synthesis and release of sex hormones such as testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen.

The youth hormone.

Fountain of youth, hormone of eternal youth, miracle molecule... DHEA is making headlines in the international press. This interest is explained by the numerous studies conducted on this hormone. Several researchers have shown that levels of this hormone decrease with age and that DHEA supplementation is associated with several anti-aging benefits. Although the body is able to produce large amounts of this hormone during childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, production declines sharply over the years. According to some estimates, the synthesis of this hormone by the adrenal glands decreases by nearly 90% between the ages of 25 and 70. It is precisely for this reason that DHEA supplements and certain hormone precursors, such as pregnenolone and 7-KetoDHEA, have attracted considerable interest in anti-aging medicine.

The star of anti-aging medicine.

Although DHEA was first isolated in the 1930s, the anti-aging potential of this hormone was only revealed in the 1980s. Since then, this hormone has been the subject of numerous scientific publications and several medical forums. In their work, researchers have, for example, demonstrated the importance of this hormone during growth. It appears to contribute to an increase in IGF-1 levels, which is a metabolite of growth hormone. Other studies have focused on the consequences of DHEA deficiency. The results of this research indicate that this deficiency could be responsible for several effects of aging, including certain dysfunctions within the body. DHEA deficiency may promote the onset of inflammatory diseases and increase the risk of cancer. Conversely, supplementation may help prevent certain diseases, particularly those affecting the cardiovascular system and bones, and combat the effects of aging.

What are the positive effects of DHEA?

Cardioprotective action to protect the heart and arteries.

Acting at different levels in the body, DHEA helps protect the entire cardiovascular system. According to research on the subject, it induces a vasodilator effect that improves blood flow, ensures good oxygenation of the heart, and limits the formation of blood clots. Results show that high levels of DHEA-S are also associated with low levels of bad cholesterol. Supplementation could therefore prevent the onset of certain cardiovascular disorders such as atherosclerosis.

An osteoprotective effect against osteoporosis.

In addition to its cardioprotective effect, DHEA may also be beneficial for bone structure. This is the conclusion of several studies conducted on bone fragility. The results show that DHEA supplementation may increase bone density, which helps protect bones and prevent certain diseases such as osteoporosis. According to several scientific opinions, the osteoprotective effect of this hormone could be enhanced by an optimal intake of calcium and vitamin D, two nutrients known for their essential roles in bone mineralization.

Benefits for the brain against stress and fatigue.

The anti-aging hormone also has several benefits for the brain. DHEA supplementation has been associated with protection of brain cells, improved cognitive function, and stimulation of the nervous system. Its stimulating activity is thought to rapidly increase vital energy, which helps maintain the body's overall well-being and combat stress and fatigue.

Immunostimulant activity to strengthen the body's defenses.

Several scientific studies suggest that DHEA stimulates and increases the number of immune cells in the body. Supplementation could therefore strengthen the immune system and increase resistance to infections. It is thought to be particularly effective in supporting the immune system when it is weakened by extreme fatigue or aging.

Benefits against weight gain and obesity.

Numerous studies have been conducted to evaluate the benefits of DHEA for weight loss. Researchers have found higher levels of DHEA in people with a body mass index (BMI) close to normal than in obese people. Investigating this finding further, scientists have shown that the anti-aging hormone may limit fat accumulation and thus counteract weight gain.

Visible results on the skin.

While DHEA has many anti-aging effects within the body, it also combats the signs of aging in the skin. Tests show that supplementation is associated with an improvement in various parameters, including hydration, suppleness, appearance, and softness of the skin.

Significant therapeutic interest.

Despite the many discoveries already made, the extent of DHEA's benefits still seems to be underestimated. While not all the results have been revealed to date, new studies are opening up promising prospects. Hormone supplementation with DHEA has shown positive effects in the treatment of adrenal insufficiency, lupus erythematosus, depression, and even diabetes management.

Am I deficient in DHEA?

In the human body, production of this hormone generally peaks between the ages of 20 and 25 and then declines over the years. Supplementation is often considered as people approach their forties, a time of life when they often start to question the effects of aging. In reality, DHEA levels begin to fall below optimal levels as early as 30-35 years of age. The decrease in this reserve is exacerbated by various factors such as stress and fatigue.

A DHEA deficiency can be assessed through a blood test, but certain signs may also be indicative: anxiety or depression for no apparent reason, unexplained fatigue, sudden weight loss, dry skin, lack of muscle tone, or memory loss.

How to choose a high-quality DHEA supplement?
For optimal effectiveness, it is important to choose a high-quality source of DHEA. This dietary supplement has been developed in accordance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards, which means that several control points are verified during production.

These stringent criteria ensure a pharmaceutical-grade supplement with a purity of over 99%. This product also offers other advantages, including vegetable-based capsules and an optimal dosage of 25mg per capsule, which is in line with the recommended dosage to limit the occurrence of potential side effects.

What are the precautions for use?
At the recommended doses, DHEA is particularly safe. Available over the counter in the United States for several years, this molecule is consumed daily by tens of millions of Americans.

As a precaution, this hormone is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, women planning to become pregnant in the near future, or people suffering from breast or prostate cancer. Before starting DHEA supplementation, medical advice is also recommended for people undergoing medical treatment.

To obtain the expected benefits, supplementation for a minimum of 4 months is often recommended. The generally recommended daily doses of DHEA are 25 mg for women and 50 mg for men. However, this dosage may vary depending on the advice of a healthcare professional, the DHEA dosage, or the results of a complete hormone assessment. These tests can be used to adjust the daily dose or even supplement it with other hormonal supplements.

Adults. Take one vegetable capsule daily with a meal, or as recommended.

Precautions: Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. This product is a nutritional supplement and should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children. Store away from light, heat, and humidity. As with any nutritional supplement, consult a healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a health condition.
